privacy policy

Last Update: October 19, 2005

The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the SmartSourceOnline.com website. Please note that this policy in no way supersedes or replaces the privacy policies of our clients (see SmartSource Clients below).

The SmartSource site offers opportunities for visitors to register for free information and for assistance in evaluating our services. These registration forms are often linked to SmartSource e-mailing lists and require users to give contact information (such as name and e-mail address). We use this contact information to send users information about our company and its products and services. The information is also used to contact site visitors by e-mail for marketing purposes if they have granted permission to us to send it to them on the e-mail list form (or other forms on our web site). Users may also be contacted by phone or postal mail for marketing purposes.

Registered users may change contact information by email to info@smartsourceonline.com or privacy@smartsourceonline.com.  Or, changes can be made by contacting SmartSource by phone or mail at the contact addresses at the end of this statement.  All email messages sent to registered users contain unsubscribe links and can be used to opt-out of all future emailings.

If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask them for the friend's name and email address.  SmartSource will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the site.  SmartSource does not store this information.

We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site. Your IP address is also used to gather broad, personally non-identifiable demographic information, such as which countries our site visitors come from. Our web site uses cookies for the purpose of tracking individual session information.  No personal information is recorded in cookies.  Our web site may be accessed in full by browsers that do not have cookies enabled.

The SmartSource web site contains links to other sites. SmartSource is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such web sites and recommends that viewers check the privacy policies of other sites to be aware of how your information is being used.

SmartSource Clients
SmartSource provides online marketing services to its clients. These services include customer database management and analysis, e-mail delivery, e-mail tracking and web site tracking. For all clients, SmartSource is contractually bound to keep customer data private and prevented from sharing data across multiple clients.

SmartSource only works with clients who practice the highest standards regarding permission marketing.  We review our clients' policies and refuse to implement programs that are not able to provide documentation regarding the source or basis for email recipients.  If you would like to report a concern about permission marketing by SmartSource or any of our clients, please contact us at privacy@smartsourceonline.com.

SmartSource does not assume responsibility for its clients' privacy policies and makes no representations about their accuracy. If you have questions about our clients' practices, we recommend you check their privacy policies and/or contact them directly.

Security
SmartSource uses industry standard technologies and processes, such as SSL (secure sockets layer) and a physically protected data center, to safeguard our clients' data and the data used by the applications we host on their behalf. However, perfect security on the Internet is currently impossible. While we make every effort to protect your data, we do not guarantee that your data are perfectly protected.  This web site is used for marketing purposes and does not collect personally identifiable information or make use of SSL technology.

Choice
SmartSource provides users the opportunity to opt-in and opt-out of receiving e-mail communications from us or from our clients. This is made available during sign-up for our e-mail lists and in e-mail messages delivered by SmartSource. For any list managed by SmartSource, users can use the link in the footer of most email messages. Alternatively, users can reply to an e-mail message according to the instructions at the bottom of the message. All on-line opt-out requests are honored immediately and permanently.  All e-mail opt-out requests are processed within 48 hours and are permanently maintained.  SmartSource does not use opt-out information for any purpose other than to suppress messages to designated opt-out e-mail addresses.

Personally Identifiable Information
We DO NOT share personally identifiable information with third parties.

Anti-Spam
SmartSource practices permission-based e-mail marketing procedures.  All messages sent by SmartSource on behalf of its clients include clear and accurate sender information and an opt-out link for prompt removal. We maintain opt-out lists and process all message lists against our lists and our clients' opt-out lists.  We reserve the right to refuse any email delivery that cannot be audited regarding the legitimacy of the email list and legal authorization to send messages to the list.  We review and comply with the individual state and federal laws regarding email marketing including federal Can-Spam regulations.  In all cases we apply standards that meet and generally exceed those required by law.

Cookies
We use cookies from third-party partners (e.g. bcentral.com) on our site to track the source and activity of visitors to the site.  No personally indentifiable information is collected in any cookies.

Notice
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Web site.
